Overgrown
The inspiration behind this piece originates from the lush tropical foliage that surrounds many homes in Jamaica. I felt a sense of privacy and protection was provided by these vibrant overgrown plants, growing from all angles around the house.
The orange house represents the beautiful colourful homes found in Jamaica, while the electricity cables acknowledge the everyday modern life on the island. I often feel the vibrant nature and resilience of the Caribbean people in this piece.
